Tincture Workshop - 7/30/23

$30.00

Join us for an afternoon of medicine making and fun with plants!

Sunday, July 30th, 3-6pm

Arise Botanicals, 400 S 37th St. Lincoln

This will be a sensory rich, hands on workshop where each participant will craft a herbal tincture with fresh plants from the garden at Arise Botanicals. Tinctures are concentrated herbal remedies, most often extracted with alcohol. Vegetable glycerin will be available for those who prefer not to ingest alcohol based remedies.

We will discuss the differences between alcohol vs non-alcohol based tinctures, fresh vs dried plants, best practices for respectful harvest, processing, weighing and measuring when making tinctures. We will also review pressing and bottling finished tinctures so you can feel confident every step of the way in taking your own tincture home and continuing to craft more in the future. The process we will be following is maceration, however we will be discussing other advanced approaches to making herbal extracts as well. Tinctures are a wonderful way to preserve fresh plants into potent remedies that carry a shelf life of several years. Participants will leave with an understanding of the best ways to create these accessible plant medicines, which in turn saves a lot of money and deepens one’s relationship to the plants growing all around us.

Accessibility info and what to expect: We will be gathering outside for this event. There will be a tent set up for shade and coverage from light rain. In the event of severe weather, the workshop will be rescheduled. Arise Botanicals is a .5 acre homestead and can be accessed via the sidewalk steps from L St. (3 concrete steps) or up a gravel driveway and into the backyard. Please contact me about accommodations for wheelchairs or other mobility devices. There will be seating available. A bathroom is available inside my home, on the 2nd floor. Access into the home requires navigating a few steps inside. If you have any questions regarding accessibility, covid policy or otherwise, please let me know and I will do my best to accommodate.

Kids are welcome to come with their grown ups who have registered for the workshop. There is a trampoline, swing and other places to play. My 7 year old daughter will likely be here to join the fun as well :)

Workshop registration is limited to 15 participants. 2 full or 4 partial (50% off) scholarship spaces are available. Please contact me to claim yours (no income verification needed, everyone deserves access to herbal medicine). I will be sending an email out to all registrants a few days before we gather for the workshop. Thank you for your interest. I’m looking forward to making plant medicines together!
